Life is a Highway

The hubs and I are on a little road trip. I grew up on road trips. Without a map, my mother never gets lost and she never turns around. She taught me the value of the journey. I passed the gene along to my kids who love a good road trip too. Years ago when they were little kids, I read the entire first Harry Potter book aloud in the green Ford Explorer on a road trip to the Outer Banks. We were at the end of a 12+ hour drive home but had not finished the book. We drove around our own neighborhood circling our house for the last 20 pages. Nobody in the car ready for the trip to be over.

The road trip is making a major comeback! Many of us are not ready to get on an airplane. We now face the winter months still still held captive by the pandemic. Time to plan how to get away from the same four walls we have been staring at since March. Some can enjoy the ability to work from anywhere but NPR said it best yesterday, "It's not really working from home, as living at work." I am grateful that I can indeed work remotley this weekend, and even the dogs are excited to be in a new environment.

Rest Stops

The rest stop....in yoga practice is usually child's pose.

Because yoga promotes a balance of effort and ease, there is a constant re-calibration happening throughout the practice. And while sure you may be giving your physical body a break, what you are really training is your mind. Encouraging your mind over and over again that it is not only OK to rest, but part of the practice in yoga and life. Know when to pull over and stretch your limbs, close your eyes for moment, and get some fresh air. Similar to a road trip, yoga is all about savoring the journey not obsessing over the destination.

Consistent offerings for class and a new opportunity to come in the studio if you feel ready. Safety precautions are all in place. Whatever your destination, I invite you to share the journey.
