Dog Days

We have two dogs, Tito + Hendricks. Tito was diagnosed with cancer in his paw last month. Within a 10 day span a small bump on the top of his paw turned the size of an avocado.  The cancer was no where else in his body and we were forced with the decision to have his leg amputated.  As I lay on the floor of the vet's office crying and holding my dog, he told me two things that really resonated:

1. Dogs live in the present moment. Tito had no idea we were talking about amputating his leg. He was busy flirting with the tech for treats. The day I was dropping him off for the procedure he just sat in the back of the car with his head out the window sniffing away. Clueless and so happy.

2. Tito has a bonded pal. The progression of his healing would be aided by having a friend. The vet assured me that most certainly Tito will see Hendricks running for a squirrel and follow suit. The video below was from the hubs yesterday, “Tito working hard to keep up with Hendricks for the first time since surgery."

In all honestly, the last two weeks haven't been easy....but witnessing his journey, we have learned valuable life lessons from the courageous little brown dog. Despite facing adversity and a significant physical challenge, he has shown an incredible ability to adapt to his new circumstances with unwavering determination. Through each step of his recovery, he has exhibited resilience, pushing past pain and discomfort with a spirit that refuses to be defeated. His ability to embrace change and find joy in the simplest of things (laying in the sun and watching the birds) has been a source of inspiration. Our furry friend reminds us that life's setbacks can be stepping stones to growth and that with a positive mindset, love, and support, we can overcome anything that comes our way. You can follow his journey on his new instagram @titothe3leggedbandito.

Friends....stay in the moment and grab a pal when faced with a struggle. Show one another the way.
